Welcome to the

New opportunities to work at WVCP through the COM
291P class begin with the start of each Fall, Spring and Summer term.

WVCP-FM 88.5-1 started broadcasting a hybrid FM/HD signal
on September 2, 2011. WVCP-FM 88.5-2 first went on the air October 6,
2011. It's programming is Classic Rock and Student CD's and Projects. Listeners that have not upgraded to an
HD radio will continue to receive the programming that they have always
received from the WVCP-1 analog service. |
|
Just when you thought FM radio couldn't get any better, it
has! By upgrading to an HD digital radio, you can get FM in improved CD
quality. Plus, you'll receive new FM stations that your analog radio can't
pick up. It's time to investigate digital HD FM radio! |
Volunteer State Community College thanks Cumberland Electric Membership
Corporation for allowing WVCP to occupy antenna space on their Gallatin
tower. This free, public service from CEMC is greatly appreciated.

WVCP
is Volunteer State Community College's student FM radio station.
We are located in Suite 169 of the Ramer Administration Building. The
station broadcasts at 88.5 on your FM dial.
Howard Espravnik
is the Station Manager.
James Milliner is the Chief Operator.
The station is staffed by VSCC students and
community volunteers.
Students in the Radio & TV
Broadcasting option of the
Communication Major have the opportunity to learn all facets of
radio broadcasting, including on-air station operations. Work at the
college station places an emphasis on doing things in a professional
manner, much like the way they would be done in a commercial radio
station. This includes following the rules of the Federal
Communications Commission, following station formats and policies as
well as the associated paperwork.
After getting some communications
experience at VSCC, many students enroll in Cooperative Work Experience
in Communication (COM 285) to do an internship at an outside station or
agency. VSCC has had successful interns at recording companies,
Nashville television stations, Nashville and local radio stations, as
well as at production houses, advertising agencies and television
networks. Successful VSCC communication students now work at locations
including WTVF News Channel 5 in Nashville and cable station News
Channel 5 Plus, WHIN, WRVW, WRQQ, WWTN, WQZQ, WKDF, WGFX, and
Knoxville's Home and Garden Television.
For more information on the Communication Department at VSCC, go to the
program's Home Page. |
