Instructions For
D-75 Audio Consoles
Revised: 7-11-08
1. See signs posted in each studio telling where input sources come
in to the console.
2. Turn faders up or down as needed to keep all sources peaking at
zero with the green L.E.D. meters. Disregard orange meters. Follow same
procedure, bringing pot down about half for talking over music beds, and
turning pot back up when done.
3. The console has two sets of meters. If they differ in their
readings, go by what the left program VU meter reads.
4. There is an A/B delegation button at the top of each fader. If the
audio source is on B, press it and the button will light when B is
activated. Only A or B can be selected at one time.
5. Keep AUD (feed to stream, etc.) and PGM (feed to air) turned on
for all active pots. Pots 14 through 17 in the Teaching Studio don’t
need PGM or AUD pressed, nothing is wired to them. The same goes for
pots 15 and 17 in the Control Room.
6. Leave pots 11,12,13, (Scott air computer) turned on and faded up
in Control Room at all times. Generally leave other pots off with yellow
button unless needed.
7. Notice that there are numbers next to each input fader 1 to 18.
The pots on these consoles are generally "normaled" at #15. That means
that the level will probably be correct or close to correct when the
fader is turned up to 15. Start there if you don’t know how high to turn
the pot. However, your final decision about levels should follow what it
says in #2 above.
8. These pots DO NOT have a cue notch at the bottom. Do not try to
pull pots down in to cue. Press red cue button on each fader to hear a
source without it going on the air. Turn fader down before doing this.
9. There are three control modules on the far right hand side of the
console:
A. The left one is the OUTPUT MODULE. The green L.E. D. timer can
be controlled, but you probably won’t use it. Keep AUD turned on here so
that right side V.U. meters will show Audition Channel.
B. The middle one is the CONTROL ROOM MODULE. In the Teaching
Studio, press External One to hear WVCP’s air signal. Press PGM to hear
what you are doing on the Teaching Studio Console.
The Light green control turns the cue speaker volume up or down.
The gray control adjusts your headphone volume.
The light blue control adjusts the volume of your ceiling monitor
speakers.
C. The right one is the STUDIO MODULE. It is not used in the
Teaching Studio.
Leave EXT pressed in the Control Room. Hold down the yellow TALKBACK
button to talk to newscasters through Dee Jay microphone #4. Leave green
(talkback level) and blue (studio—newsroom) speaker control turned
straight up.
10. Laptop Inputs: Each console has a laptop input and a stereo
miniplug on the counter.
A. Have the pot turned off when plugging in or unplugging your
laptop.
B. Push the extra cord back into the studio furniture when done. Pull
cord out gently when getting some needed slack.
C. Songs played on the air from the laptop input must meet the
guidelines in the WVCP Policy Book. Make sure you know what they are.
D. Any songs played on the air which are not in the SS32 computer
system must be reported via e-mail list to
Holly.Nimmo@volstate.edu
within one week. Tell the Date, Song Name, Artist and approximate time
aired. We have stricter reporting requirements because we stream music
on the Internet.
E. All audio "drops" played on air must be approved in advance
by the station manager.
F. As this is a new area, modifications or further rules may be
forthcoming regarding laptop input at WVCP. Thank you for your
cooperation.
11. Activate cue system by first turning pot all the way down, and
then pressing red cue button. Remember to turn off red cue button and
turn fader back up when done with cue.
